Rosé {R&R&R}

Standard

With the school year during intercession, and just working full time, I have been really on a R&R kick. There are a few things this break that have gotten me to this very calm, slightly reclusive, and health fanatic state. Also the time to be able to post my thoughts. Hopefully this semester will keep this track. I feel strong and better then ever, sometimes you really do just need a break from the chaos of it all.

~Rosé – I can honestly say that I have drank at least twenty bottles of Rosé. All different flavors, it is so amazing. Dry and bubbly, just the way I like it. My top three choices of this break were:\

  1. Old School Cinsault RoséOLD+SCHOOL+ROSE
  2. Broadbent Vinho Verde (As Always)
  3. Moët Chandon RoséRose-Imperial_fixed_1280x1096
  4. Mumm Napa Brut Rosé1_1522750_3

There is this new APP for both Android/iPhone platforms called *Delectable* which I have been using very frequently to track the wines that I drink. It is used a lot by Sommeliers and those who really know wine more so than casual wine drinkers but I very much so recommend all to start using it!

~Sauvignon Blanc

1. NYE was filled with much alcohol, and mostly Champagne & Sauvignon Blanc with two of my human beings from a hometown family. It was quite a messy situation, but we all made it out alive and standing…. I think. Anyway, the Wine was from Ninety Cellars, and has a delightful, crisp taste that is to die for.

~Gin & Lemon Whiskey Cocktails

I had many of these cocktails at one of my favorite bars downtown Rochester called Ox & Stone(http://www.oxandstone.com/). Great bartenders, great cocktails and a old timey feel with dim lights. Very nice for an evening of brooding. 😉

This weekend I will be traveling the East Coast to visit some dear friends and I will be loving the life for sure. I will be excited to document yet another trip of good food, good alcohol, and of course my best friends. As my relaxation continues, I must get back to work so as to finish all my paperwork before I depart tomorrow.

Boston, here I come!

I recently have disappeared from the world of the internet with all my friends, shenanigans and everything it is I seem to get myself into. I haven’t posted in forever and I totally didn’t event think about it once. Let me say this, best friend is used in many places in my writing and I have many so don’t get confused if my posts every get a little mixed.

Ludwigshafen Castle: My best friends house where we go for the ultimate shenanigans on weekends that we can takeover the Castle and actually raise hell. Food, swords, hatchets, kegs, bottles on bottles, non stop music, and a lot partying that doesn’t end for days. This was one of the best weekends for a while. My best friends mom is always with us, and she is the coolest. Forces me to even do a shot now and then. All my friends with there and I had took much fun. Here is a picture of the Rochester kids that we’re around in in the picture.

Halloween: Halloween was a drunken shit show. I was a vampire and a snake and I was so drunk as a snake and DJing all night that I didn’t get a single picture taken of me. As a vampire it was so much fun, went out to the bar and got smashed. Woke up with my best friend and we stared at each other, saw the empty glasses of wine, chilled from the window Moët and Vueve champagne bottles and we didn’t get out of bed until we were done where we went to the liquor store and bought two bottles more and demanded the place we went to brunch would open them. Life Tip I learned from my bestie, never say no, just do it. Don’t hesitate to allow people to okay popping bottles of champagne in the restaurant, just pop them anyway. I love him because he helps justify my confidence and helps me realize not to care about what anyone worries about or thinks, just do you and fuck literally anyone who judges. Even though I already follow those rules, sometimes it’s nice to have a partner in crime that can justify living life so carefree and fabulously sometimes. I will mention he is a Masters student, and also WORKS first…. then PLAYS so hard, so fucking hard. One of those people who is extremely secure and provides an energy that exudes positivity. Anyway, after that brunch we went and bought two more bottles of Moët and Veuve and raised a lot of hell at my place. A keg was picked up for a Halloween party and my best friend (and first love actually) came with his AMAZING girlfriend and we went to the party that we had all been counting on the days for. The costumes were amazing. The people were amazing. Green Ivy is what we call the house and all my artsy/hippie/loving friends live there. It’s the environment that you just love and can relax and can literally stop caring. I DJ’d with my best friend Davika and we did amazing. It was too much fun and too good, there was never a time there weren’t people on the dance floor. I partied to hard I cannot even speak about it.

VampireLivandI

His soundcloud is attacked to my soundcloud as Davika and has a lot of mixes I would def listen too. He’s pretty much the most laid back, sarcastic guy ever and has been a loyal friend to me and I very much so love him for that. BATMAN TO THE BASS.

DRINKS OF CHOICE RECENTLY:

  • Magnificat Red Wine
  • Veuve Clicquot
  • Moët Chandon
  • Gin Martini (UH-DUH Hendrick’s)
  • Orange Cream Vodka, Organic Fresh Squeezed OJ, Cream Soda, & Lemon Mixed Drink ~ A little festive drink my friend and I made for slow sippinggg

I am addicted to Moët. It runs through my veins like pure gold and I cannot even explain. I know I am a label whore, and a snob but the fact that I can pretty much only drink Moët and Verve, (and occasional Crémant… Tehe) It’s also all the Ludwigshafen fault.

Recent Life Recommendations/Tips/LarixMixTrix

I am posting this to mainly get back into posting because I love telling you all my life, my recommendations, and give advice to people like me who love living life for what it’s worth and for also realizing that HARD WORK is the reason that you should live joyfully.

I have stumbled across that stunning Clinique lipstick that I have been wearing non-stop when I do not have my lipstick on or want a full look. It is Clinique’s Black Honey Almost Lipstick. It is very sheer and almost chapstick like but gives your lips such nice cover and dry revival that it isn’t to obvious and very professional. I am wearing it now with my yoga pants. 😉 A very rare occasion for yoga pants to be on without doing yoga. I DEF recommend, it’s slightly sin like.

Clinique Sheer Lipstick

My newest favorite addiction has come from my boy George that I cannot stop and inexplicably have not ever listened to really. Panic! at the Disco is so fucking good. Everyone who needs some nice dark and elegance alternative rock, please please listen to these songs if you already haven’t. It’s so amazing. There newer album is even Electronic like and I cannot stop listening to Panic! On repeat.

This is my favorite quote that I have recently come across that can explain my life exactly to me.

“She was fierce, she was strong, she wasn’t simple. She was crazy and sometimes she barely slept. She always had something to say. She had flaws and that was ok. And when she was down, she got right back up. She was a beast in her own way, but one idea described her best.

She was unstoppable and she took anything she wanted with a smile.”
― R.M. Drake

My bestie and some friends came to play this weekend and we chugged Magnificat bottles (~$40) it’s like velvet from the devil. It was beautiful. Love my people.

I have a lot of Boron-Oxide Reactions studying to do, yes, I love it, it’s the best, so I am going to leave with this and start more concise blog topics soon, so as I usually say, Cheers Bitches! Pop them bottles!

Moonrise Festival

Standard

I have just gotten back from a weekend in Baltimore, Maryland at the Moonrise Festival. Once again, spent the day eating up the sun dancing, drinking, smoking, raving and all of the happiness and peace the comes along with festival life. I am still in that mood where I’m to happy to actually be in real life. I do need to go into to work at some point today though.

The music was so amazing, production, lights, sound, people and DJs put on an amazing festival. The crowd was pretty decent, as sometimes their can be questionable people there, but I give the festival 4.5 Stars for sure. Good job Moonrise!

I met Anna Lunoe and the was probably my favorite festival experience. She DJ’d a phenomenal set. Disclosure, some of her originals, Don Diablo, and of course she introduced me to the new track Beat That Bitch With A Bat… Original artist is Blackman, pretty old classic.

This Diplo & Friends mix with Anna Lunoe pretty much describes her talented Djing skills and sick taste in music.

Figure was there and was fucking killing it on the DJing but the sound was off in the big dance tent compared to the other stages, and being the sound snob that I am, I left after a half hour. But Figure….. You’re a fucking bomb ass DJ.

Shiba San played this amazing house song called OKAY also. SO SO sick. THE BASS. Ahhhh, I still have the shivers. As for the rest of the shows and sets. AH-MAZING. Check out the line-up!

Bar Isabella

Standard

My favorite restaurant and bar in all of the Philly region is definitely Isabella’s, a contemporary Mediterranean style bar featuring tapas and some really innovative dishes. Located in Conshohocken, PA, right in the outskirts of Philadelphia, the setting is a great little bar to come to. The tapas portions are great to order a couple things around to share. My personal favorites are the Calamari, Truffle fries and of course Caesar salads. Caesar salads should be a staple in everyones diet.

http://www.barisabella.com/

They have amazing Liquor Infusions, about three at all times, personally my favorite has been the cucumber infused gin, but that’s a given for me. Gin, gin, gin. Different drink specials are made up every day, some are really innovative! From a flaming toasted s’more martini to a berry rose spritzer, you can really get anything you desire. Bartender and restaurant manager Lana Fain is an essential member to the restaurant experience.

I had an Iced Coffee there the other night that was absolutely amazing. Chilled coffee, Rumchata, Kahlua and some other ingredients composed the drink and it was a Chemists dream. I couldn’t stop drinking them! The only think I truly needed was my periodic table coffee mug and I was perfectly wired to continue programming my heart away.

wpid-wp-1406195549042.jpegOther great drinks I’ve had is the Rose Martini and the wine selection is phenomenal. I urge you to come here if you are in the area. It’s amazing! The owner Tom would love to see you stop by for some fine wine and dining!!

Boston Part II

Standard

Ah, my weekend in Boston. Man do I not want to be working right now. This weekend was too good to want to come back to work. But here I am, listening to the Russians report Database issues and programming Risk Assessments… How exhilarating.

Boston was amazing.

Alcohol Picks for the Weekend:

Sam Adams Boston Brick Red: A unique and special beer, only native to Boston, home of the brewery. It has many hints of caramel and is an ale. Was great for the tastebuds.

Screenshot_2014-07-13-11-36-12~2

Uncle Val’s Botanical Gin:  A small distillery labels batch and brew number with a pen. Such a unique, made with love gin. This gin is high quality and very potent. The botanicals in the gin are marvelous and it is really strong, 90 Proof. Beware. It will sneak up on you… (especially when drinking it from a granite spout).

redmart-067

Kendall-Jackson, Vintner’s Reserve, Sauvignon Blanc: A light and delicious wine. Very good for summer. Very light. The bottle on the picture below was also a Sauv. Blanc…. Not entirely sure if I remember it….. OOPS.

DRINKING in STYLE:

IMG_20140711_204822_678

Now I don’t know about anyone else, but I like to drink with style. For example, out of this rock…. It’s a slab of real heavy granite, with a hole for the top of the bottle to go in. Using PHYSICS, you can know that the air pressure keeps the bottle from draining out all the way (over the top) and only into the spout.

Rule Number 1: DO NOT put Champagne or any carbonated alcohols in the stone. IT WILL FIGHT BACK.

Boston is such a beautiful city. The architecture, bricks, Espalande… amazing. There were so many little shops and restaurants, it was so amazing.

The Espalande at Night

The newest restaurant I discovered is called Sweet Green. The freshest and best salads you could ever imagine. The minute you walk in, it smells like Basil. You can choose so many options and everything is super fresh. DELICIOUS!!! There is also one in Ardmore, PA, which I will be visiting most likely tonight, because Philly is just that good too.

http://sweetgreen.com

We went to a lot of bars and walked all over the downtown areas. The streets and buildings are amazing. I wish I could speak more about some of the bars… but again, I don’t really remember. But they were serving some of the STRONGEST gin and tonics I have ever had.

A great weekend, a great town and a great many things I was able to experience!! I will end on this message: don’t forget to smoke your J’s, run your miles and look your finest all week. Fabulousness goes alooooong way! 😉 1405228005040
